Sunday Tea and Scones with Special Guest, Faith V. Smith | Tartan Ink

It?s a pleasure to welcome Faith V. Smith to Tartan Ink.? Faith and I (Sue-Ellen) have been friends since Devil In?A Kilt days.? I?ve noted her as a Special Guest rather than a ?Reader Guest? because?Faith wears so many hats.? She reviews, edits, and writes.? She?s also a huge animal lover and puts her heart into rescue, helping needy and homeless pets.? So you can see, she?s my kind of hero!

And, of course, she?s also a?reader.? A great lover of books, like all of us.? She?s?wonderful?and I know you?re going to love her.

So please draw near to our hearth, grab a chair, get cozy, and enjoy the tea and scones we?re serving up today.? Above all, please welcome Faith to the tea room?

Here?s her bio:

Now with the sale of eight books in less than two years, I am pleased to add Gideon?s Heart, the third book in my Bound By Blood, The Legends series, as well as Semper Fi Magick, a time travel with a feisty faery princess to my list of books. Also Presidential Heat,? from Siren BookStrand, as well as ?Immortal Justice,? from The Wild Rose Press. Look for all my published books as well as coming soon at The Wild Rose Press, Siren BookStrand, and Amazon.com,? http://www.faithvsmith.com/?and?www.faithvsmith.blogspot.com.?

Please tell us a little bit about yourself.??

I love to read; I have since I could first hold a book. I?ve always wanted to write, but never thought getting published would happen to me. After several years of doing book reviews, working at this and that in the publishing industry, it happened. Now, I have eight books published with two different publishing houses.

I?m pretty much a quiet person. I like my peace, and I love to lose myself in a good book. I love my furry babies, and my darling daughter is my heart. The other half of my heart is with my husband who is and has been an angel in Heaven for almost five years.?

If you could have a quiet dinner with any writer, living or dead, who would you choose?? I think that would have to be Sue-Ellen Welfonder. I love her work, and no, I?m not schmoozing. I love how she creates her characters, and I know she also likes quiet. I would love to sit and chat about writing.?

If you could have a quiet dinner with any historical person, who would you choose?? Wow, that is a hard question. Maybe one of the Highlanders who fought at Culloden. I would love to know how he truly felt about fighting there.

Favorite character in a book?? There are too many to name.?

If you could go back in time, where and to what era would you go? I would go back to the Highlands of Scotland, to a time where the earth is new, the air is clean, and men were men. I love the medieval era.?

What would you enjoy doing if you weren?t reading?? Write. Yet, there are times the reader comes out in me full force and I have to read, and read, and read?lol.?

What do you appreciate most in your favorite writers? books?? The development of new characters, and the chance to visit old characters. When a character is written correctly, they should fill the readers mind with all kinds of exciting scenarios.?

What kind of books do you enjoy reading?? Has your reading taste changed over the years? It?s changed some. I like darker books now.?

Do you have an all-time favorite book? No, but there are several series out there I look forward to reading.?

Anything you?d like to tell an author? Keep doing what you?re doing. Your time spent at the computer is invaluable to a reader.?

Have you always been a reader?? Oh yes!?

Do you read when you?re happy?? Or when you?re sad?? Or anytime? Yes to all three.?

Any new-to-you writers you?ve discovered lately? One, a Kathryn Shay. I found her on Amazon and it was an amazing story of firefighters.?

Is there a genre you like more than another? Historicals and paranormals.?

Is there a genre you don?t read? Why not? I don?t do hard-core erotic or horror.? Just not my cup of tea.?

When do you like to read? All the time.?

Do you have a favorite spot to read?? In my room, but I will read anywhere!?

Do you read self-published books?? I have read a few.?

What?s your price point limit on a book? No more than $20.00.?

Where/how do you find/purchase books?? On line mostly.?

Are you influenced by reviews?? As a reader, not really. I choose my own books to read, and although I value reviewers, I make up my own mind. As a writer, however, I am influenced by reviews. I want to make sure the book is perceived as it was written. And their input is invaluable.?

How do you feel about author self-promo?? What works for you?? What doesn?t?? It?s something that has to be done. There are so many avenues today that allow an author to be up close with their readers. I like doing blogs and book signings.?

Wrap-Up Quickies:?

Kilt or burr? Kilt of course.

Pipes or Fiddle? Pipes, they are so haunting.?

Glasgow or Edinburgh? Edinburgh.?

Highlands or lowlands? Definitely the Highlands.?

Dog or cat lover? Both, my babies would hurt me if I said one over the other.?

Tea or Coffee?? Tea.?

Owl or Lark? Lark.?

Quiet or music when you read??? Quiet.?

Ebooks or paper?? Both.

Where can readers find you?

Look for all my published books as well as coming soon at The Wild Rose Press, Siren BookStrand, and Amazon.com, www.faithvsmith.com?; www.faithvsmith.blogspot.com.

Faith, thank you so much for being our Special Sunday Guest today.? I know everyone will enjoy chatting with you!
