Ginn's father battles through pancreatic cancer to attend Super Bowl ...

Wide receiver and return specialist Ted Ginn Jr. said if the 49ers win Sunday, he?ll give his Super Bowl ring to his father, who?s battled pancreatic cancer since August and will be at Sunday?s game.

?No matter what goes on, I?ll be happy that I gave him this opportunity to experience this,? Ginn Jr. told the Cleveland Plain-Dealer. ?It?s a dream come true for him.?

The 49ers discretely allowed Ginn to visited his father a couple times during the season. ?I was very, very afraid of losing him,? Ginn Jr. added. ?It was really tough knowing I couldn?t get there, couldn?t be there for him every day. That was the scary part.?

The elder Ginn has been a long-time and highly successful coach atCleveland?sGlenvilleHigh School. Safety Donte Whitner played for him and credits him as a driving influence. ?Ever since we were kids, Ted pushed us to get to where we are right now ? from Glenville to Ohio State to now,? Whitner told the Plain-Dealer. ?And to have him here with us after everything that he?s been through this year makes it all the more special.?
