Senior Vice President and Director of Finance (New York, New York)

The Director of Finance will provide leadership to the accounting, budget and grants management departments for NYCEDC and oversee a staff of 40+ employees. This person will direct the accounting functions for five corporations and will oversee the planning and management of an approximately $800 million financial plan and a $1.4 billion capital budget. The functions within the group include corporate accounting, financial controls, treasury, tax, budget, financial analyses and grants management.

The Director of Finance will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), who oversees nine departments including the Finance Group, to develop NYCEDC?s accounting, budget and grants financial goals and objectives. This person will also design, establish and maintain an organizational structure including enhancing department processes and systems to increase efficiency in workflow and communication.

Leadership:

- Provide day-to-day leadership in the daily execution of accounting, budgeting and grants departments in their respective missions
- Build close relationships with company executives to provide guidance and direction on financial related issues
- Establish and implement short- and long-range divisional and departmental goals and objectives
- Continue efforts to improve customer service levels

Financial Accounting Oversight:

- Supervise Comptroller and day-to-day Accounts Payable/Receivable & Cash Management Operations
- Identify and manage risks and opportunities to improve accounting controls and overall business performance
- Establish and maintain the organization's accounting principles, practices and procedures to conform to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Provide guidance on setting policy and ensuring compliance on company?s rules and regulations pertaining to financials
- Present financial statements to various audit committees and the Board of Directors

Management Accounting Oversight:

- Analyze and interpret financial data and recommend changes to improve systems and financial performance
- Oversee the development of and adherence to the annual financial strategy for NYCEDC
- Recommend benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance of NYCEDC?s divisions and departments

Budgetary Oversight:

- Provide guidance to identify and secure additional non-City revenue for economic development initiatives via grants
- Serve as the primary budgetary interface and relationship manager with external stakeholders including the Office of Management and Budget, the Office of the Comptroller and City Hall
- Oversee the preparation of the official annual report of actual revenues, transfers and expenses, and financial outlooks and forecasts
